PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin)
PRF is a regenerative treatment that uses components from your own blood (including platelets, fibrin, and growth factors ) to support tissue repair, collagen production, and overall skin rejuvenation.
Unlike traditional injectables, PRF works by stimulating your body’s natural healing processes over time, releasing growth factors gradually to improve skin quality, texture, and resilience.
Proper preparation and aftercare play a key role in how effectively your body responds to treatment.
Pre-Treatment Care
Preparation
- Arrive with a clean face (no makeup or skincare)
- Eat a light meal and stay well hydrated prior to your appointment (blood draw required)
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for 24–72 hours prior
Product & Supplement Considerations
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo) for 3–7 days if medically appropriate
- Avoid retinoids and active skincare for 3–5 days prior
(Do not discontinue prescribed medications without consulting your physician.)
Medical Considerations
- Avoid treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Avoid treatment with active infection, illness, or inflammation
- Inform your provider of any medical conditions, medications, or recent treatments
- If prone to cold sores, antiviral support may be recommended
Post-Treatment Care
What to Expect
- Mild swelling, redness, or tenderness
- Possible bruising at injection sites
- Skin may feel slightly tight or full initially
PRF works gradually – results develop over weeks as collagen production increases.
First 24–48 Hours
- Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the area
- Avoid heat (hot showers, saunas, workouts)
- Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours
- Remain upright for several hours post-treatment
Important Note
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs like ibuprofen) for up to 1–2 weeks, as inflammation is part of the healing process PRF relies on.
- Avoid icing unless specifically instructed.
Ongoing Care (Up to 1–2 Weeks)
- Avoid facials, lasers, or advanced treatments
- Avoid excessive heat and pressure
- Allow the area to settle naturally
Comfort Measures (If Needed)
- Tylenol may be used for discomfort
- Arnica may help reduce bruising
Supporting Your Results
PRF is entirely dependent on your body’s ability to heal, regenerate, and build new tissue — this is where your results are truly made.
Hydration + Circulation
- Stay well hydrated (aim for consistent daily intake)
- Light movement (walking) supports circulation and healing
Nutritional Support (This Matters More Here Than Almost Any Treatment)
Focus on nutrients that directly support tissue repair and collagen production:
- Protein (amino acids = building blocks for new tissue)
- Vitamin C (collagen synthesis)
- Zinc + minerals (cell repair and immune support)
- Healthy fats (skin barrier + anti-inflammatory support)
Reduce Interference With Healing
For 48–72 hours post-treatment, try to minimize:
- Alcohol
- Smoking
- Excess sugar
- Highly processed foods
These can interfere with circulation and healing response.
Lifestyle Considerations
- Prioritize sleep and recovery (this is when regeneration happens)
- Avoid anything that significantly increases inflammation or stress during early healing
Treatment Notes
- PRF does not create immediate volume like filler – results develop gradually
- A series of treatments is typically recommended for optimal results
- Improvements continue over several weeks as collagen is produced
- Results vary based on individual healing capacity and lifestyle factors
