What is a cortisone injection, and how does it work for acne?
Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication. When injected directly into a cystic acne lesion, it calms the inflammation, reduces swelling, and helps flatten the breakout within hours to days, signalling the body to send faster healing and prevent long-term scarring.
Does the injection hurt?
While the treatment is quick, some clients experience a brief pinch or sting, especially on already inflamed or sensitive areas. If needed, a local anesthetic can be applied beforehand to allow you to feel more comfortable.
Is this treatment safe for all skin types?

Will one treatment be enough?
Typically, one injection per cyst is enough. It’s designed as a one-time, targeted treatment for active flare-ups to promote natural healing.
How long does the appointment take?
The procedure itself takes just a few minutes. It’s a perfect lunchtime treatment with no downtime, so you can return to your day with ease.
Can I combine this with other acne treatments?
Absolutely! Cortisone injections can complement your existing skincare routine or your new or current Natology skin journey. We can guide you on how to integrate it gently and effectively, so the most aligned transformation for your skin.
How quickly will I see transformation?
Most of our clients notice visible improvement within 24-72 hours. The treated area becomes less red, less painful, and significantly reduced in size, allowing for more efficient healing.
Can I treat more than one cyst at a time?
Absolutely! We can treat multiple cysts during one session. The first lesion is $40.00, and each additional lesion is $20.00 in the same appointment. Just ask!
Are there any risks or side effects?
Side effects are rare and typically temporary. The most common is a slight skin indentation at the injection site (called atrophy), which in some cases, resolves in a few months. Some may notice a small white spot in darker skin, but that also fades naturally as the skin returns to its healed state.
