Laser hair removal works by targeting pigment in active hair follicles during specific growth phases. Proper preparation and aftercare support both the safety of your skin and the effectiveness of your results.

Pre-Treatment Care

Skin Preparation

Arrive with clean, freshly shaved skin in the treatment area
Avoid tanning (sun, spray, or self-tanner) for 3-4 weeks prior
Avoid waxing, tweezing, or depilatory creams for at least 3 weeks prior

Product Restrictions

Avoid AHA/BHA, retinoids, hydroquinone, and active exfoliants for 7 days prior
Avoid chemical peels or laser treatments in the area for 2 weeks before and after treatment

Medical Considerations

Any new or changing moles or lesions must be assessed by a medical professional prior to treatment
Clients who have used Accutane (or similar medications) within the last 6 months cannot be treated
If you are prone to cold sores, antiviral support (e.g., Valtrex) is recommended prior to treatment
Active cold sores cannot be treated
Antibiotics may increase photosensitivity. Please consult your physician if unsure
Wait 14 days before and after Botox or dermal filler in the treatment area

Post-Treatment Care

What to Expect

Mild to moderate redness and swelling for 1-3 days
A sensation of warmth or sensitivity in the treated area

First 24–48 Hours

Avoid heat (hot showers, baths, saunas, workouts)
Avoid friction or irritation in the treated area
Do not apply active skincare products

Ongoing Care

Avoid sun exposure for 7 days following treatment
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily
Begin gentle exfoliation after 5-7 days to help prevent ingrown hairs
Avoid picking, scratching, or irritating the area

Comfort Measures (If Needed)

Apply cool compresses, aloe vera, or calming products
Tylenol may be used for discomfort

Stay well hydrated before and after treatment
Focus on balanced, whole foods to support skin recovery
Minimize alcohol and excess sugar for 24–48 hours post-treatment
