Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
Decreases muscle excitability to reduce wrinkles and lines on the skin.
What areas is it used on?
Treatments helpful in reducing the appearance of:
crows feet;
glabellar (in between the eyebrows);
frown lines; and/or
downward lines around the mouth.
Who is suited for neuromodulators?
For people who are interested in reducing dynamic wrinkles, or have headaches, or have excessive underarm sweating; are 18 years old or older & in good overall health; and are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
Those who have a history of neuromuscular diseases, such as myasthenia gravis or multiple sclerosis, are not candidates.
What can I expect?
Treatments take 15 to 20 minutes depending on the area. Results typically last between 3 to 4 months, depending on the person and the area injected. Results take a full 14 days to reach maximum potential, which will happen subtly and gradually over that time. On average, patients notice effects within 3 days after treatment.
Patients immediately experience a small pinpoint, raised with redness, that will start to subside within minutes to hours after injection.
Are there any other uses for neuromodulators?
Botox® can be used for more than wrinkles. When treated correctly, it can correct brow asymmetry, minimize fullness above the eyes, turn up the corners of the mouth, and create less of a gummy smile. However, this does involve an in-depth facial analysis to identify your dominant movements with your anatomical musculature. Further, Botox® can be used to treat Hyperhydrosis (underarm sweating), which is often covered by insurance. For more information about this process, please call the clinic.
