What kind of post procedure care is required?

Patients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad spectrum sunscreen every day. Makeup can be applied 1 to 2 days after the treatment. Patients should expect to see micro lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week depending on treatment parameters.

Will Dermaplaning make my hair grow back darker and/or thicker?

No, this is physiologically impossible. Hormones are responsible for hair growth. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow back slowly – usually in about 4 weeks and no different than it was previously.

How often can this procedure be done?

Dermaplaning can be done every 3-4 weeks. Treating the skin in this manner removes about 2 – 3 weeks’ worth of dead skin cells. You should leave enough time between treatments to allow the skin to complete its normal skin cycle of approximately 30-45 days before repeating.

If you select to have a more aggressive treatment, you may experience a day or two of redness.
